Some photos of my life in Lahore, Pakistan

Very soon after arriving in Lahore I attended a wedding at a very wealthy businessman's home.  I posed in front of the home before going into the walled area with my husband.  After entering the gate I was asked to visit the women's rooms instead of attending the feast with my husband.  I entered the house and sat chatting with the other women away from the party.

Taken about two months before my twin daughters were born,  I was sitting in St. Louis at my parent's home and someone snapped this photo.  Under the beautiful blue silk sari I am quite large and very pregnant,  but covered up nicely with long flowing silk.

Photo of Lara Lyons, young Fozia and Khurram sitting on the grass at Shalimar Gardens in Lahore.   This day was the first time the children had ever been to the gardens and they were very impressed by the beautiful setting.

Built in 16th Century by Shahjehan the greatest patron of Architecture It was used as the Royal pleasure Garden by the Moghuls during 16th to 19th century. In 1818 it saw its worst days when it was destroyed by the Sikh ruler Ranjit Sing and turned into a stable. The Garden was restored by the Pakistani Government and in use today as popular leisure gathering place.

This lovely 22 year old woman who had been married about a year earlier was attending the wedding of her cousin.

These young girls were dressed for a wedding of one of their older sisters.  They are from a wealthy family and if you look closely you will see the 24KT gold necklaces and earrings they are wearing.
